I've had run-in's with Newtown's finest. In a town that is generally safe the cops can get nosey if they don't like your looks and can be ticket happy on occasion. I am personally aware of cases where bad arrests have caused friends financial duress for the so-called "delaying an investigation" charge that later got thrown out in court. On the other hand they've returned my kids home when they got stuck in in-climate weather conditions. There are a few good cops in town who are available to give the kids some direction though. It's still better to enter through the front door then the parking garage. It's not the easiest job. I still appreciate their service commitment.
The minimal interactions I have had with our police have led me to believe we have one of the best police departments in the nation. The only department I can personally compare to is Burbank, CA where I used to live. Although the town vs a city are not fair comparisons, I still believe Newtown police are the best.
